By ANNA FELICIA BAJO,GMA News

Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara said Sunday that Typhoon Rolly has left two casualties, and the Office of Civil Defense 5 confirmed one dead in the province.

"Mayroon kaming early reports na dalawang casualties, isa sa Polangui tapos isa sa Daraga. 'Yung sa Daraga 'yung nabuwal na uprooted na punong-kahoy eh nabagsakan 'yun," Bichara said at a press briefing.

"Saka mga dike na bumigay kaya nagkaroon ng baha..." Bichara added.

At the press briefing, it was not clearly stated by Bichara if the casualties were dead or wounded.

In a separate message, Office of Civil Defense V director Claudio Yucot confirmed one fatality in Daraga.

"'Yung sa Barangay Kimantong, Daraga, Albay pa lang confirmed namin na babae namatay dahil natumbahan ng puno habang nasa loob siya ng bahay," Yucot told GMA News Online.

"Wala pa kaming nakuhang pangalan niya, made of light materials lang 'yung bahay niya," Yucot added.

Yucot said authorities are still validating the reports about the casualty in Polangui mentioned by the governor.

There is no report yet on the number of wounded individuals, Yucot said.

Bichara said some areas have no electricity and communication lines.

Meanwhile, the entire Quezon province is under red alert status amid the super typhoon, Governor Danilo Suarez said.

Suarez said personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Department of Social Welfare and Development have been deployed in critical areas to extend assistance to affected families.

According to the governor, more or less 25,000 people have been evacuated. Suarez noted that at present, there is no report on casualties.

"Wala pa kami... sana mamaintain natin, wala pa kaming casualties..." Suarez said in the same press conference.

Ten towns have no power supply, Suarez said. He added that all national and provincial roads are passable.

Meanwhile, Santa Rosa, Laguna Mayor Arlene Arcillas said local officials have already started the preemptive evacuation of residents.

Rescue vehicles, generators and food packs have already been on standby, Arcillas said in the briefing.

"All barangays po ay naka-prepare na at ang city ay nakaantabay na rin po," Arcillas said. —LBG/RSJ, GMA News
