Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the cop who shot dead a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac, will be likely transferred from Paniqui Police Station to another jail facility, according to the chief of Police Regional Office (PRO) 3.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday, PRO 3 director Police Brigadier General Valeriano de Leon said Nuezca has to be transferred to speed up the progress of the case.

“It is likely that he will be moved to other jail. That remains to be the discretion ng korte,” De Leon said.

“It is likely sa Bureau of Jail (Management and Penology) siya, diyan sa may Tarlac din para mas mapabilis...Because it is sensationalized, pabibilisin natin 'yan,” he added.

De Leon said they are still waiting for the commitment order from the court for the transfer of Nuezca.

According to De Leon, Nuezca’s case was raffled off and given to Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 67.

The Philippine National Police has already started processing the summary dismissal proceedings against Nuezca.

Nuezca was caught on video shooting to death his neighbors Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony Gregorio in Paniqui, Tarlac in broad daylight on Sunday, Dec. 20.

The off-duty cop was irked after hearing the sound of a "boga" or improvised cannon using PVC pipes which is used as a noisemaker for New Year festivities.

Nuezca went to the Gregorios' house to confront them and arrest Frank Anthony, prompting Sonya to hold on to her son.

Tension heightened since the two parties had a previous argument regarding a right-of-way property issue.

Nuezca then fired shots at Sonya and Frank Anthony, then left.

He surrendered to police and has been indicted for double murder charges.

Nuezca remains detained at the Paniqui Police detention cell. —KG, GMA News
