A total of 13,725 families in Caraga Region have evacuated from their homes due to the threat of Tropical Depression Auring (international name: Dujuan), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal said these families are staying at 332 evacuation centers across the region.

“Ngayong umaga, nakatanggap po tayo ng ulat na umabot na sa 13,000 pamilya ang na-evacuate diyan po sa Caraga region in view of itong Bagyong si Auring, 13,725 families po 'yan,” Timbal said.

Due to Auring, he added that 44 houses were partially damaged in the region.

Rescue operations are ongoing in some flooded areas in the region, according to Timbal.

“May lanslide din pong naganap diyan sa may Caraga Region pero wala naman po itong naidulot na pinsala doon sa mga kababayan natin. Mukhang merong daan na naharangan dahil dito,” he added.

In Western and Central Visayas Regions, Timbal said 2,027 passengers were reportedly stranded as of Sunday.

Timbal said they have not received any reports of isolated areas due to flooding so far.
