4 reported missing after boat capsized in Surigao del Sur amid Auring —NDRRMC

At least four people were reported missing in Surigao del Sur after a boat capsized amid the onslaught of Tropical Depression Auring, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.

In an update on Wednesday, NDRRMC said a search and rescue operation is ongoing to find the missing persons.

The number of fatalities due to Auring remained at one. According to NDRRMC, the victim died due to drowning in Surigao del Norte.

Two people were reported injured, including one who was struck by lightning while the other one was hit by galvanized iron sheets.

A total of 69,682 persons or 18,996 families have evacuated from their homes in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga Regions due to the threat of Auring.

According to NDRRMC, a total of 49,947 families in Caraga, Bicol, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Regions were affected by the weather disturbance.

At least 226 houses were totally damaged and 453 were partially damaged in Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao, and Caraga Regions, NDRRMC said.—AOL, GMA News
