P3.4-M shabu seized; high value target killed in Lapu-Lapu —police

Police confiscated P3.4 million worth of crystal methamphetamine or shabu while a high value target was killed during a law enforcement operation in Lapu-Lapu City on Monday evening, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.

In a report, PNP officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar identified the fatality as Mario Dijieto Baylosis, alias Mario, 43. Eleazar said Baylosis is listed as a “high-value individual.”

Baylosis was wounded after a shootout with PNP and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives at Sitio Afro in Barangay Ibo.

The joint operation was conducted by City Intelligence Unit and City Drugs Enforcement Unit of the Lapu Lapu City Police Office, Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit 7, Special Operation Unit 5, PNP Drug Enforcement Group and PDEA Visayas Field Unit 7.

Baylosis was rushed to the Lapu Lapu City District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Seized in the anti-drug operation were 500 grams of shabu with street value of P3,400,000 and .38 caliber revolver with ammunition.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
