Cop in Maguindanao dies due to COVID-19

Another fatality was recorded in the Philippine National Police (PNP) due to COVID-19.

According to the PNP Public Information Office on Friday, the 58th fatality is a 47-year-old police corporal assigned in Maguindanao.

A report from the PNP Health Service said the cop was rushed to a hospital due to fever and cough on May 3. He immediately underwent RT-PCR test, which yielded a positive result.

The policeman was pronounced dead by the attending physician due to acute respiratory failure on May 5. The said police officer also had diabetes.

The PNP PIO said the total number of COVID-19 infections within the police force is at 20,936 wherein 1,540 are active.

A total of 19,365 cops have already recovered from the disease. — Anna Felicia Bajo/RSJ, GMA News
