Misamis Oriental appeals for more COVID-19 vaccines

Misamis Oriental Governor Bambi Emano on Wednesday appealed for additional COVID-19 vaccines for the province, saying that only 25% of its senior citizens and persons with comorbidities have been vaccinated.

"Nakikiusap kami at sumulat na kahit madagdagan na muna kahit 20,000 doses yung Misamis Oriental," Emano said during Laging Handa briefing.

(We are asking for at least additional 20,000 doses.)

"Hopefully, it will help us contain and inoculate [the areas near] Cagayan de Oro and Gingoog City,” Emano added.

"When the cases increase in Cagayan de Oro, the cases in two towns on the city border rise as well," he added in a mix of Filipino and English.

Emano said the province has 349 active COVID-19 cases, including one Delta variant case.

In a report on 24 Oras, Emano said that two of the four people living with the Delta case have also tested positive for the virus. Their samples are currently being tested for the variant. — BM, GMA News
