DILG looking into unapproved ‘no vax, no dine-in policy’ in Cebu City

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) is looking into the reported “no vaccination, no dine-in policy” in Cebu City, Secretary Eduardo Año said Tuesday.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, he pointed out that the policy is not approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

“Kaya nga inutusan natin ang regional office doon na makipag-uganayan kay acting Mayor (Michael) Rama para suriin yung ginagawa nila,” he said.

(So I ordered our regional office there to coordinate with acting Mayor to review the policy)

Año pointed out that it is too early for the city to implement such a policy considering the number of their vaccinated population.

Earlier, the Cebu City government allowed people who have already been vaccinated against COVID-19 to avail of dine-in and personal care services.

Rama said people who received at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine will have access to these services.

With a target of 700,000 recipients, Rama said around 300,000 residents have already received the first and second dose of the vaccine.

If the requested supply of COVID-19 vaccine will arrive by November, Rama said the city is expecting to reach the target vaccination number by December. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
