12 Carmelite nuns in Rizal test positive for COVID-19

Out of 18 religious sisters living at the Carmelite Monastery in the town of Tanay, Rizal province, 12 tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The sisters made the announcement through their official Facebook account.

"We are fully vaccinated, except one Sister who is still taking chemo tabs," the sisters said.

"At present, we are considered as mild cases and symptomatic," they added.

The sisters assured their friends that they are doing well.

"Do not worry about us... we are hoping to recover and whatever happens, someday we will praise Him together in the Kingdom of Light and say with Mary, 'the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. We love you all!"

The sisters also said they are continue with their prayers, particularly those asking for prayers for loved ones who suffer from COVID-19.

"At this time of pandemic, we are offering prayers for you," the nuns said.

Earlier, it was reported that at least nine members of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) congregation passed away due to COVID-19. The RVM convent in Quezon City is currently locked down. -- BAP, GMA News
