DFA: 557 overseas Filipinos have now recovered from COVID-19

Thirty-four more Filipinos overseas have recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 557, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Thursday.

The number of Filipinos abroad infected with the viral disease, meanwhile, rose to 1,922 with 21 new infections. Of the number, 1,143 are undergoing treatment.

The DFA also reported seven new fatalities from the illness, bringing the death toll to 222.

Europe remained with the most COVID-19 positive Filipinos at 612. Of the number, 73 have died, 150 have recovered and 388 are undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, in the Americas, Filipinos who contracted the disease have reached 503, including 128 deaths, 132 recoveries and 243 undergoing treatment.

In the Middle East or Africa, 434 Filipinos have been infected with COVID-19 with 19 deaths, 36 recoveries and 379 undergoing treatment.

The Asia Pacific Region recorded 376 COVID-positive Filipinos, two of whom have died, 132 are undergoing treatment and 239 have recovered.

Globally, the COVID-19 has infected nearly 4 million people and claimed more than 260,000 lives.

In the Philippines, a total of 10,343 cases have been reported, including 685 fatalities and 1,618 recoveries. -MDM, GMA News
