Most of Pinoys in Malaysia with COVID-19 have recovered — ambassador

Most of the 115 Filipinos who contracted COVID-19 in Malaysia have already recovered, Philippine Ambassador Charles Jose said Monday.

In a televised briefing, Jose said 98 Filipinos have been discharged from hospitals and 17 are still undergoing treatment. All cases were linked to a religious gathering from February 27 to March 1 at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur, he added.

“Lahat ng itong 115, hanggang ngayon po ay nasa Malaysia pa,” he said.

Malaysia has so far recorded 7,245 COVID-19 cases with 115 deaths.

Jose also reported that close to 800 overseas Filipino workers affected by the pandemic have received financial assistance from the Philippine government. — Virgil Lopez/RSJ, GMA News
