With 42 new infections, Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 9,816 — DFA

Forty-two more Filipinos abroad on Wednesday have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 9,816, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that total recoveries increased to 5,802 with 12 new cases while 13 more fatalities brought the death toll to 721.

At present, there are 3,293 patients undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed that there are a total of 1,015 cases in the Asia and  Pacific Region with 308 patients undergoing treatment, 699 recoveries, and eight fatalities.

In the Middle East or Africa, there are a total of 6,874 cases. Of this, 2,323 are undergoing treatment, 4,108 have recovered, and 443 have succumbed to the disease.

Europe has reported a total of 1,143 cases with 500 patients undergoing treatment, 548 recoveries, and 95 deaths.

Meanwhile, no new cases were reported in the Americas with the total number of cases remaining at 784, patients undergoing treatment at 162, recoveries at 447, and fatalities at 175. â€” Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
