DFA: 28 more Filipinos abroad recover from COVID-19

Twenty-eight more Filipinos abroad recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Saturday bringing the total to 6,123, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The DFA also announced that the total number of cases rose to 10,067 with five new infections while the number of fatalities remained at 755.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of Filipinos who have recovered from COVID-19 increased to almost 61 percent of the total confirmed cases, while those who are under treatment decreased slightly to 31.68 percent,” the DFA said.

“Meanwhile the percentage of fatalities among COVID-19-affected Filipinos abroad saw a slight increase to 7.5 percent,” it added.

At present, there are 3,189 patients undergoing treatment.

Data from the DFA showed that there are a total of 1,139 cases in the Asia and the Pacific region with 354 patients undergoing treatment. The region has reported 777 recoveries and eight fatalities.

Meanwhile, The Middle East or Africa has reported a total of 6,968 cases. Of this, 2,332 are undergoing treatment, 4,162 have recovered, and 474 have died from the illness.

In Europe, there are a total of 1,165 cases with 340 patients undergoing treatment, 730 recoveries, and 95 fatalities.

The Americas, meanwhile, has a total of 795 cases. There are 163 patients undergoing treatment in the region while recoveries and fatalities were recorded at 454 and 178, respectively.  — DVM, GMA News
