DFA: 6 more Filipinos abroad test positive for COVID-19

Six more Filipinos abroad tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total to 11,423, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported on Saturday.

The DFA also announced that total recoveries rose to 7,367 with three new ones while the death toll remained at 828.

At present, there are a total of 3,228 nationals still undergoing treatment.

“Compared to last week’s percentages, the total number of those under treatment saw a slight increase to 28.26 percent,” the DFA said in a tweet.

“Meanwhile, the total percentage of COVID-19 recoveries and fatalities slightly decreased, at 64.49 percent and 7.57 percent, respectively,” it added.

Data from the DFA showed a total of 1,849 cases in Asia and the Pacific region. Of these, 536 were still undergoing treatment while 1,304 have recovered and nine have succumbed to the illness.

The Middle East or Africa has also reported 7,492 cases with 2,332 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 4,617 and 543, respectively.

In Europe, a total of 1,266 cases were reported, with 204 patients were undergoing treatment. Some 965 patients have recovered and 97 have died.

A total of 816 confirmed COVID-19 cases were recorded in the Americas. Patients undergoing treatment were at 156, recoveries at 481, and fatalities at 179. — DVM, GMA News
