21 more Filipinos overseas contract COVID-19; total now over 16k —DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reported 21 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total tally to 16,006.

According to the DFA, total recoveries also rose to 9,702 after two more Filipinos defeated the respiratory illness, while the death toll remained at 1,047.

So far, there are 5,257 active cases undergoing treatment.

The Middle East/Africa remained to be the region with the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among Filipinos overseas at 8,884 with 673 deaths and 4,764 recoveries.

Europe followed with 3,217 infections including 130 fatalities and 2,217 recoveries.

In the Asia Pacific Region, a total of 3,004 Filipinos were infected with the virus. Of the number, 21 have died, while 2,131 have recovered.

The Americas, meanwhile, has recorded 901 cases with 223 fatalities and 590 recoveries.—AOL, GMA News
