DFA: Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 now at 19,729

The number of Filipinos abroad who have tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rose to 19,720 on Saturday after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported five new infections.

According to the DFA, four more have recovered from the illness, bringing the total recoveries to 12,004, while the death toll remained at 1,179.

Meanwhile, there are 6,537 patients still undergoing treatment.

Based on data from the DFA, there are a total of 3,966 cases in Asia and the Pacific region with 1,307 patients undergoing treatment. A total of 2,627 patients in the region have recovered while 32 have died.

The Middle East or Africa has, meanwhile, reported 11,248 cases with 4,185 patients undergoing treatment. Recoveries and fatalities in the region were recorded at 6,288 and 775 respectively.

In Europe, a total of 3,522 Filipinos have tested positive for the illness, of which 930 are still undergoing treatment, 2,462 have recovered, and 130 have died.

Meanwhile, a total of 984 cases were recorded in the Americas with 115 still undergoing treatment. The region has reported 627 recoveries and 242 fatalities. -MDM, GMA News
