By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

The Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) on Friday said quarantine facilities for returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) are already full due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, BOQ deputy director Dr. Roberto Salvador Jr. said the increase of infections among ROFs started as early as December 2021.

“Napakadaming nag-positive ngayon. Sa ngayon po hindi po namin alam kung saan po namin madadala ‘yung mga nag-positive nating kababayan kasi yung mga naka-allot na quarantine facility para sa ROF puno na po,” he said.

Salvador said since the second week of December 2021, around 80 to 100 ROF are being tested positive for COVID-19 daily.

Due to this, many ROFs are paying for their accommodation in quarantine hotels on their own, according to the BOQ official.

For ROFs with negative RT-PCT test results and vaccination cards, they will only have to complete a five-day quarantine. For those without these requirements, they would have to undergo a seven-day quarantine, Salvador said. —KBK, GMA News
