Magnitude 5 earthquake strikes Occidental Mindoro

A magnitude 5 earthquake hit San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The tectonic earthquake, which occurred at 7:24 a.m., had its epicenter at 11.94°N, 120.74°E - 058 km S 37° W of San Jose.

Its depth of focus is 17 km.

PHIVOLCS said no damage is expected but aftershocks may occur.

The earthquake was first reported to be magnitude 4.8, but PHIVOLCS updated this before 9 a.m. —KG, GMA News
