LPA off Mindanao develops into Tropical Depression Ambo

A low-pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao has developed into a tropical depression named Ambo,  PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

The state weather bureau said the LPA intensified into a tropical depression at 2 p.m.

“Severe Weather Bulletin will be issued starting at 5:00 PM later,” PAGASA said in a tweet. 

PAGASA earlier said the LPA was spotted 635 kilometers east of Davao City as of 11 a.m. Sunday.

It said the weather system would bring scattered light to moderate with occasional heavy rains over the regions of Caraga, Davao, and SOCCSKSARGEN. —Julia Mari Ornedo/LBG, GMA News
