Roxas Blvd. portion will be closed in either first or second week of January — MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday said the closure of a portion of Roxas Boulevard will be implemented either in the first week or second week of January 2022.

In a radio interview, MMDA chairperson Benhur Abalos said that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will fix the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard because it is at risk of collapsing.

“Definitely it would be [in] the first week or it would be [in] the second week [of January],” he said.

Abalos went on to say that the MMDA had asked the DPWH to give the agency time to assess the impact of the repairs and make necessary adjustments, such as traffic rerouting.

Earlier, the MMDA said it was checking alternate routes that motorists may use during the closure, which is expected to last two or three months.
