Another Tiger leaves UST as Jun Asuncion transfers to Mapua—report

Another player is leaving the University of Santo Tomas amid the "Sorsogon bubble" controversy surrounding the men's basketball team.

On Tuesday, UST student publication The Varsitarian reported that sophomore Jun Asuncion is making his way out of the España-based squad.

The report said Asuncion will transfer to Mapua University.

Asuncion is the fifth player to say goodbye to the gold and white. Former team captain CJ Cansino was the first to go, revealing in a statement that he was kicked off the team

Shortly after his surprise exit, reports emerged on the alleged training bubble in Sorsogon which led to an investigation.

Brent Paraiso, Rhenz Abando, and Ira Bataller then followed suit and confirmed their departures from UST.

Sports activities have been suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic. So far, only professional sports have been given the green light to resume training.  —Justin Kenneth Carandang/MGP, GMA News
