Jack Animam shines in pro debut, posts double-double to lift Radnicki over Proleter 023

Jack Animam continued her personal winning streak as she posted a monster double-double in her debut to lift Radnicki Kragujevac past the Proleter, 78-77, to open her campaign in the First Women's Basketball League of Serbia on Saturday.

The Filipino baller notched 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with two blocks and two steals in almost 34 minutes of action.

The victory meant Animam remained spotless since her unbeaten collegiate run with the National University in the UAAP and an 18-0 championship run with Shih Hsin University in the University Basketball Association (UBA) championship in Taiwan.

Animam was the starting center for Radnicki Kragujevac and the 22-year-old bruiser quickly made her presence felt, scoring her club's first five points while also grabbing four rebounds in the opening period.

They, however, trail at 12-23 after an 11-0 surge by Proleter 023 to end the frame.

Animam, the first Filipino cager to play professionally in Europe, scored another four markers in the second period as Radnicki outscored Proleter 032, 21-13, and went into halftime behind, 33-36.

Radnicki regained the lead at the conclusion of the third, 56-52, with Animam still leading the way after the 6-foot-5 baller already reached a double-double mark of 15 points and 11 rebounds with still a quarter to go.

Leading by four with five seconds left in the game, 78-74, Radnicki was dealt some scare as Proleter's Tijana Cukic nailed a crucial three-pointer that cut the lead of Animam's side to just a slim one-point cushion.

Milca Indic helped Animam with her 18 points and seven dimes while Marijana Stojanovic chipped in 11 markers.
