Aldin Ayo makes successful PBA coaching debut as Converge wins against Terrafirma

Aldin Ayo proved he belongs in the big league as he steered the Converge Fiberxers to its first win in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup and took down Terrafirma Dyip, 124-110, on Friday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

After being tied at 62 at the end of the first half, Ayo and his squad limited Terrafirma to just 17 points against their 31 points to give them a 93-79 advantage. The Fiberxers led by as much as 18 in the fourth period before cruising to their first victory of the conference.

Converge reinforcement Quincy Miller posted 38 points and 16 rebounds, while Maverick Ahanmisi added 18 points on top of his 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Justin Arana had 13 points and 7 boards, while Jeron Teng and Alec Stockton tallied 11 markers each. Aljun Melecio, Converge newbie and Ayo's former ward in La Salle, scored 10 points.

Lester Prosper put up 43 points and 25 rebounds to lead the Dyip, while the returning Alex Cabagnot had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Joshua Munzon finished with 14 points while Juami Tiongson added 13 of his own in the loss.

Converge will return to action on Sunday when they play Barangay Ginebra while Terrafirma will face Magnolia on Wednesday.
