Alex Eala failed to barge into the championship round after falling to Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium, 1-6, 6-3, 3-6, in the semifinals of the W80 Poitiers in France on Saturday night.

After falling short in the opening set, the Filipino teen tennis sensation rediscovered her touch in the second frame, racing to a 4-2 lead before the Belgian netter made it a 3-4 deficit.

But Eala won two straight games to level the series to one set apiece. Eala then saw herself staring at a 1-3 disadvantage in the third set this before Bonaventure dominated the next games to seal the deal.

The clash lasted for one hour and 46 minutes as Eala's campaign saw its end after having won five matches prior.
