Xavier, St. Jude face off in PCYAA Invitational finals

Xavier School and St. Jude Catholic School are set to face off against each other in the finals of Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) 10th Anniversary Invitational Basketball Tournament.

The Golden Stallions pulled off a come-from-behind 64-57 win against St. Stephen's High School in the semis on Saturday at Uno High School Gym. Down by eight points with eight minutes left in the game, Xavier made a 13-0 run to eventually take the game.

Brent Tiu had 22 points, eight in the fourth quarter alone, 15 rebounds, nine assists, and six steals. Andre Tan added 13 points to keep the Golden Stallions undefeated in the tournament.

The Green Knights, meanwhile, defeated Pace Academy, 80-72, with Kobe Chong registering 24 points and 11 rebounds. Ethan Kaw waxed hot with 24 points built on three triples, and listed five rebounds and three assists.

Sam Ng led St. Stephen's with six triples for his 24-point output. Axell Cue, on the other hand, made 19 points and seven rebounds for Pace.

Game One of the best-of-three finals is set on Thursday at the same venue.

Also included in the tournament backed by Milk Magic, Spalding, Vital Purified Drinking Water, and Nexgen Asia are Chiang Kai Shek College, Philippine Cultural College, Jubilee Christian Academy, MGC-New Life Christian Academy, Uno High School, Grace Christian College, and Hope Christian High School.
