Bob Arum looks to make Pacquiao vs. Crawford in November

By JM SIASAT

MANILA- Bob Arum is eyeing a unification showdown between WBA world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and WBO world welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

In an interview with boxingscene.com, the Top Rank boss says his team is eager to make the fight but acknowledged that the world is currently living in an unusual time at the moment.

“The Pacquiao fight, obviously we’d like to do it. Whether we can do it, how we can do it, that’s what we’re figuring out now,” said Arum.

“Obviously, if it can happen, it’ll happen. And if it can’t happen, it won’t happen. But nothing is concrete on that. We hope we can do it. We’re trying, but this is not a usual situation.”

The eight-division champion previously stated that he does not plan to get back inside the ring until the pandemic is over. He last fought in July 2019 against Keith Thurman where he won the WBA world welterweight title by way of unanimous decision.

Crawford (36-0, 27Kos), meanwhile, made a successful defense of his title via unanimous decision last December against Egidijus Kavaliauskas.

Sporting events have slowly started to resume after the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Be it against Pacquiao or not, Arum plans to get Crawford back in the ring by November.

“We told Terence that he’s scheduled to fight in November,” Pacquiao’s ex-promoter quipped.

“If it can’t be Pacquiao for various reasons, then we’ll match him with somebody else. But we told Terence to prepare for mid-November, whether it’s the 14th or the 21st.” — LA, GMA News
