Errol Spence Jr. officially out of the picture as Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent

Fans may now cross out the prospective unification fight between WBA world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.

Spence, who holds an unblemished record of 26-0 with 21 knockouts, has signed to defend his world titles against former light welterweight and welterweight champion Danny Garcia on Nov. 21 (Nov. 22 Philippine time), which will air on pay-per-view.

“Done deal the king of the division back. November 21st on Fox PPV vs @DannySwift,” Spence wrote on Twitter.

Garcia (36-2, 21Kos) also confirmed the fight by responding to the tweet.

“HERE WE GO! @ErrolSpenceJr on Nov. 21. Signed! Sealed! Delivered! My 10th world title fight it’s time to crown the king again,” he replied.

The upcoming fight is set to be officially announced on Aug. 8 on FOX’s first boxing broadcast since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Spence’s name has floated around as the next possible foe for Pacquiao together with WBO world welterweight champion Terence Crawford.

The Filipino boxing icon previously mentioned that he plans to skip fighting until the pandemic is over, but recent reports suggest that Pacquiao may very well feature in an exhibition match in Macau. – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
