Canelo Alvarez willing to face GGG in a trilogy

By JM SIASAT

Reigning two-division world champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is willing to fight IBF world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin for a third time.

Alvarez, who is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Callum Smith this past weekend to claim the WBC and WBA world super middleweight titles, says that he is open to fighting anybody that is put in front of him.

“I don't run from nobody. I just showed that I fought against the best,” said Alvarez.

Alvarez (54-1-2, 36KOs) and Golovkin (41-1-1, 36KOs) share one of the most intense rivalries in recent boxing history. They first met inside the ring in 2017 in a highly contested bout that ended in a draw. They fought again a year later where Alvarez emerged victorious via majority decision.

Golovkin had won three straight fights since that fateful night and is coming off a seven-round demolition of Kamil Szerementa last Saturday (PHL time).

For Canelo, a trilogy with Golovkin is just a matter of getting the contracts signed.
