Ugas confident Pacquiao can't knock him out

Despite having a short notice before their fight, Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas is confident that Manny Pacquiao cannot knock him out.

In a press conference on Wednesday (Las Vegas time), Ugas said he is ready to fight the eight-division world champion for the WBA welterweight title.

"There are no excuses. I have been in this position before but never in a position like this against a legend of the caliber of Manny Pacquiao," Ugas said in Cuban, referring to his history of being a late replacement in matches. "But I am certainly ready for the fight and I know that he's ready."

"I'm 100% certain he cannot knock me out," the reigning WBA welterweight champ said. "I've done all the work, all the preparation. Over these past six years, I've really been hitting my stride and I don't think Manny Pacquiao can knock me out."

Ugas became the welterweight champ early this year after the WBA stripped off Pacquiao of his title due to inactivity.

Pacquiao himself believes the fight against Ugas will be a good one and the two boxers will now have a chance to settle it in the ring.

"I think it will be good for us to settle it in the ring on Saturday. It will be a good fight."

Watch the fight on Sunday, August 22, on GMA Network and listen to Super Radyo DZBB for blow-by-blow updates.
