By JM SIASAT

Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is planning to box again in the future once he makes his return to the world of combat sports.

McGregor, 33, suffered a leg injury in his last outing against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 which ended the fight by technical knockout. Touted as the biggest star in mixed martial arts, McGregor is back in the gym training and says he would like to compete in boxing again.

“The body is doing good. We are going to up the training bit by bit. I should be able to kick now. I am going to have a CT scan in the coming days,” McGregor said in an interview with Sky Sports

.

"Obviously my return will be inside the octagon for the UFC and mixed martial arts. That story is far from over," he added.

"In fact, that story is just being written, it’s just the beginning so that’s where I’ll make my return. But boxing for sure, I will grace the squared circle again for sure in the future."

It can be remembered that McGregor, 22-6 as a mixed martial arts fighter, dipped his toes in boxing in 2017 when he fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. via technical knockout. He says he plans to box again in the future though an MMA fight is on top of the list.

“Boxing is my first love in combat sports. I had such a great time the last time I was out there,” McGregor said.
