Maharlika FC stuns Mendiola, bounces back from opening day loss

Maharlika Manila FC picked up its first win of the season after a 2-1 comeback victory against Mendiola FC 1991 in the 2022 Copa Paulino Alcantara on Monday at the PFF National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.

The victory was a bounce back feat for Maharlika following a 1-0 loss at the hands of defending champion Kaya FC last week.

Mendiola FC had a solid start with Jim Ashley Flores converting their lone goal in the 44th minute but Maharlika recovered in the second half thanks to brothers Gino and Miggy Clarino.

Gino tied the game at one goal apiece following a header off a corner in the 50th minute before his brother sealed the deal in the 77th minute where he found the back of the net off a Charlie Beaton assist.

Maharlika now secures three points ahead of its clash against United City on March 24 while Mendiola battles Azkals Development Team on March 28.
