Hidilyn Diaz set to receive gold Medal of Valor from PSC

Filipina weightlifter and Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz will get another gold medal, this time from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).

In a statement, the PSC said it will be awarding Diaz a gold Medal of Valor for her historic achievement.

The medal is given to athletes who won a gold medal in the Olympic Games. It is included as part of the P10 million reward provided by the government, based on Republic Act 10699.

The PSC said it looks to give the said medal, alongside the monetary reward, in a courtesy call in the Malacañang Palace.

Aside from the medal and the P10-M reward, several business tycoons pledged to give cash rewards to Diaz. Several property developers said they will also gift Diaz with a condominium and a house and lot.

Diaz made history after winning the country's first ever gold medal at the Olympics. She ruled the women's 55 kg category after lifting 127 kg in the clean and jerk to set an Olympic record.
