RSG continues giant-slaying with subduing of Bren

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

RSG Philippines continued their impressive league debut after scoring another surprising win against Bren Esports, 2-1, in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 elimination round on Sunday.

It was the fourth win for RSG as they also handed top-seeded ONIC Philippines their first loss of the season one day before taking down the M2 world champions. They now have eight points to secure the fifth spot three weeks into the season.

The MPL newcomers, parading three rookies in the line-up, proved that they belong with the big boys as they quickly pulled ahead against Bren with John Cedrix "Demonkite" Caranto (Ling) leading a 10-4 kill lead via a 4-1-4 KDA by the 8th minute.

A 5-0 wipeout in the 13th minute Lord fight then enabled RSG to take Game 1.

The perennial powerhouse squad engaged RSG in a nip-and-tuck Game 2 that saw them take a commanding lead in the early game before RSG took over in the midgame via a 5-1 wipeout in the 12th minute to negate a 3k gold deficit.

But Bren displayed composure as they stayed patient until they forced a 3-1 exchange in the 15th minute to secure the Luminous Lord on the way to an 18-minute conquest of RSG.

In Game 3, RSG looked on the way to an easy win after they scored a 3-0 wipe in the 7th minute to establish a 4k gold lead.

Things looked dangerous though for RSG in the mid game after the Season 6 champs delivered 4-1 punish in an 11th minute defensive stand that momentarily gave Bren momentum.

The Panda-coached squad needed an all-important 5-0 wipeout in the 14th minute courtesy of the Demontkite triple kill to hand Bren their fifth loss of the season.

Bren remained at the bottom of the standings with 5 points in six matches so far.
