Omega makes it back-to-back wins, rises up MPL PH S8 standings with sweep of Bren

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

Southeast Asian Kings Omega Esports are slowly crawling back up the standings as they swept Bren Esports, 2-0, on the penultimate week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 on Sunday.

Omega has now scored back-to-back sweeps after their controversial close loss to Onic Philippines in Week 5. They have 16 points to take 3rd place, still with 3 matches left in the season.

After a close early game, Omega started to make their move with a 2-1 exchange in the 4th minute of Game 1 that they extended to a 6-3 kill lead by the 7th minute courtesy of a Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Alice) 2-0-2 KDA.

Another crucial 4-1 wipe in the 9th minute plus the turtle take helped Omega establish a 5k gold lead. Omega then scored a 12th minute 3-0 takedown to finish off Bren, 1-0.

Kelra came out unscathed with a 5-0-7 KDA. Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog (Jawhead), who provided timely Ejector initiations leading to essential takedowns, finished with a 2-2-8 KDA.

Omega did not let up as they once again imposed their might in Game 2, scoring a 4-1 exchange in the 4th minute followed by another 3-1 takedown in the 6th, led by Kelra's (Aldous) double kill.

The 2021 MLBB Southeast Asian champs then executed a split in the 13th minute that put Bren in disarray on the way to securing the luminous lord and an inhibitor turret push in the botlane.

Another luminous lord take in the 18th minute was the final punch needed by Omega to complete the sweep in the 20th minute. Kelra once again led the way for Omega with a 9-1-3 KDA while MPL rookie Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Ling) was once again instrumental with a 3-4-10 KDA.

Bren fell to 7th with 14 points with must-win matches against Echo and Blacklist remaining in Week 7.
