Lyceum upsets Letran to book spot in MLBB Varsity Cup grand finals

Lyceum of the Philippines University pulled off an upset after it swept the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 3-0, in the upper bracket finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Varsity Cup on Friday.

With the victory, the Pirates, composed of Lorenzo Navarro, Alvin Baetiong, Carlo Abadeza, Yancy Remulla, and Shawn Umali, are now through the grand finals and will now await their opponent.

The loss, though, put the Knights in a tough position as they have been relegated to the lower bracket finals clash with the Mapua University. The Cardinals earlier eliminated Emilio Aguinaldo College, 2-0.

The winner of the match between Letran and Mapua will face Lyceum in the championship round.

The MLBB Varsity Cup serves as a follow-up event to the CCE 1v1 Exhibition Matches last month, which was ruled by Perpetual’s Jasper Cuevas, and a prelude to the official College Center for Esports (CCE) calendar next year featuring NCAA students.
