Onic PH catapults to M3 World Championship grand finals with immaculate record

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

Onic Philippines mowed down everyone in the upper-bracket with three consecutive sweeps, this time against North America's Blood Thirsty Kings, 3-0, to take the first ticket to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship grand finals on Saturday.

It was a flawless run so far for Onic, losing only their opening game in the group stage against Indonesia's Onic Esports via a comeback, putting together 11-straight wins to secure their best finish ever in the world stage.

Onic opted to rely on Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy's championship Natalia once again in the opening game combining with Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales (Pharsa) to score crucial pick offs, including the complete shutdown on prolific American jungler Michael "MobaZane" Cosgun (Natan) who finished with a paltry 2-5-1 KDA.

The duo was instrumental in a 9th minute 5-0 wipeout that turned the close game into a domination as Onic used the decisive clash to take the first lord of the match.

Baloyskie's exploits in a 14th minute pick off on MobaZane and another one a minute later, was all they needed to continue their winning ways, 1-0.

The three-time MPL PH runners-up did not let up, this time zeroing on gold laner Fwyd Chicken limiting him to a 0-4-3 KDA en route to an easy Game 2 win where they did not even concede any turret.

Baloyskie (Natalia) again played the role of the bait, initiating fights and sacrificing himself to score decisive pickoffs. He took five of the team's deaths in a dominant 14-6 kill score.

Game 3 was a chess game though, as both teams combined for only 6 kills until the 11th minute when BTK forced a clash that resulted in a favorable 3-2 exchange.

But Onic just had the better macro mechanics overall, confusing the North Americans to secure the luminous lord in the 14th minute and completely shutdown MobaZane the rest the way (0-5-3).

BTK will crash into the lower bracket where they await the winner between Philippines' Blacklist International and home bet Evos SG.
