Jorge Masvidal claims Conor McGregor is avoiding a fight with him

By JM SIASAT

Hard-hitting fan-favorite Jorge Masvidal is claiming that former two-division UFC world champion Conor McGregor is avoiding a potential mega fight with him.

In an interview with MMA Hour, Masvidal claimed that the Irish mixed martial arts superstar does not pick up the phone whenever UFC executives call him to offer a fight.

“That guy doesn’t answer the UFC’s phone calls when my name gets dropped in his mailbox,” Masvidal said.

“I don’t want to drop executives in the UFC’s names, but if you ask certain members of the UFC’s staff, they’ll be like, ‘Conor is not fighting anymore, under no circumstance.’”

Masvidal and McGregor have recently went at each other on Twitter throwing insults on social media.

McGregor, who fought at 145, 155, and 170 pounds in his MMA career, is currently recovering from a leg injury he suffered in his last fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

Masvidal, meanwhile, is coming off three consecutive defeats but reportedly holds one of the most lucrative fight contracts in the UFC.

“When they offer him the contract, he says stupid f—ing things that can’t happen. He wants me to go down to 155 [pounds]. For starters, I’m not going to go down for 155 for this,” Masvidal said.

“You’ve fought at 170 [pounds] why am I going to go down to 155? I haven’t been in that weight class for over five or six years. I can’t physically make it anymore.”

As far as Masvidal is concerned, it does not seem like McGregor is willing to get inside the cage with him.

“Dana White called it a long time ago. I’m too much man for him, too much size, as Dana says, and it stuck with him,” Masvidal quipped.

“But at the same time, he can’t do nothing about it, because he knows when we get in there, we’re both striking it up, and I’m going to crack his ass.”
