Blacklist's OhMyV33nus on the importance of mindset in dealing with criticisms, achieving success

For Johnmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna, having the right mindset is important in dealing with criticism and achieving success.

Known in the local Mobile Legends scene as "The Queen," OhMyV33nus has been crowned champion many times over with Blacklist International and national team Sibol.

Despite his many accomplishments and fame, however, he said he also experienced bashing and received negative comments.

"Nung nakaka-experience na kami ng losses sa tournaments, parang doon na pumapasok 'yung mga basher, mga hater," he said in an interview with online show "Share Ko Lang with Dr. Anna Tuazon."

("When we experienced losses in the tournaments, that's when we had bashers, haters. That's when I felt that being a pro player is not all fun games. That's when I experienced people insulting me.")

He admitted that criticisms hurt him, but his love for gaming is bigger than the bad comments.

("At first it hurt so much. It hurts to read or hear those things from people. But I really love gaming and this is what I have been dreaming of for a long time.")

("I always tell myself that the bashers and haters will not make me stop doing what I want to do with my life.")

OhMyV33nus said shifting the mindset to deal with criticism better is just as necessary as developing your skills in-game.

"Until now, hindi ko iniisip masyado na sobrang sikat ako," he said.

("Until now, I don't think about my fame too much. Your feet should always be on the ground. It's in the mindset. I just have the mindset that for my supporters or for my family, this is who I am.")
