Echo releases two-time MPL Philippines champs Rafflesia, Killuash

By JOHN EDISON UBALDO

MPL Philippines team Echo said goodbye to roamer Christian "Rafflesia" Fajura and exp laner Ashley Marco "Killuash" Cruz on Monday.

The team, formerly known as Sunsparks and Aura PH, made the announcement on their Facebook page.

"Thank you, Killuash and Rafflesia! ECHO won't be the same without you. You brighten up every room with your aura and the memories we had with you are definitely for keeps," Echo said.

"We wish you luck in your future endeavors!"

Through a video post, Echo paid tribute to the last remaining members of the Season 5 champion roster who stayed with the team.

Rafflesia last played in Season 8 before taking the backseat in the following season for up-and-coming Tristan "Yawi" Cabrera.

Killuash, meanwhile, took a break in Season 8 citing lack of motivation and returned in Season 9 but just could not crack into the starting line-up with the standout performance of rising exp lane star Frediemar "3MarTzy" Serafico.

Rafflesia has been a prominent fixture in the MPL Philippines since leading the charge in their Season 4 and Season 5 back-to-back championships while also playing as team captain in the succeeding seasons.

He shot to stardom during the Season 4 grand finals series against Onic PH, then led by popular Blacklist V33wise duo, when he executed a clutch arrival + Tyrant's Revenge combo in Game 4 that extended the match into a Game 5 via a minion push.

Killuash, for his part, has been one of the most dominant offlaners in the league.

He took his first championship in Season 3 under ArkAngel where he also finished third during the MLBB Southeast Asian Cup 2019 in Manila. He joined Sunsparks in Season 5 after ArkAngel got demoted in a disastrous Season 4 campaign.
