DILG chief Abalos puts up P500,000 reward for information on Percy Lapid’s killers

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos is offering P500,000 to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects behind the killing of radio broadcaster Percy Lapid.

“I’m offering P500,000 of my own money for any information na makakatulong pa (that would help),” Abalos said according to a tweet of dzBB Super Radyo’s Luisito Santos.

“We already have information pero I'm offering it…any information. Iiwan ko po ito sa PNP [Philippine National Police] P500,000 nang sa ganun ay makatulong din dito sa imbestigasyon,” he said.

(We already have information but I’m offering it…any information. I will leave it to the PNP, the P500,000, to help the probe.)

Authorities are currently in the process of identifying the two suspects behind the killing of Lapid who was shot dead while on his way home in Barangay Talon Dos, Las Piñas City around 8:30 p.m. on Monday.

Lapid, whose real name was Percival Mabasa, was the host of the online broadcast program "Percy Lapid Fire" at DWBL 1242 and a columnist for Hataw.

The DILG previously said an in-depth investigation has started through a Special Investigation Task Force formed by the Las Piñas City Police hours after the shooting incident.

For its part, the Commission on Human Rights also launched a separate probe into the journalist’s killing. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA News
