P2.65M worth of cocaine seized in Taguig City, Customs says

Authorities seized over P2.65 million worth of cocaine in Taguig City, the Bureau of Customs  said Wednesday.

The BOC said that in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA), and Philippine National Police (PNP), the operation was conducted at AFP-RSBS Industrial Park, Km. 12, East Service Road, Taguig City on Tuesday night.

They confiscated around 500 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated amount of P2.65 million, various e-cigarettes or vape cartridges containing suspected marijuana oil, and more or less 30 grams of suspected kush (hybrid marijuana).

Authorities also found several ID cards, small transparent glass and plastic tube container containing suspected marijuana oil, assorted paraphernalia, one bag of empty capsules, and several Ziplock bags with residue of suspected illegal drugs.

The BOC said the seized evidence will be turned over to PDEA Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination and also for the filing of appropriate charges.

Meanwhile, Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz said the reports gathered enabled them to act immediately upon the issuance of his Letter of Authority (LOA).

“One of our best assets is the partnership we have with different government agencies. We maximize that relationship by bringing information to the table and acting on it immediately,” Ruiz said in a statement.

“Since assuming this position, my standing order—and I have been very firm on this—is for the BOC and other partner agencies to pour all our resources against contrabands, especially illegal drugs,” he added. — Richa Noriega/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
