Former COMELEC Commissioner Resurreccion Borra dies at 84

Former Commission on Elections Commissioner Resurreccion Borra died on Saturday at age 84, COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez confirmed.

“Let’s all say a prayer for the peaceful repose of the soul of Commissioner Rex Borra - an excellent civil servant, an uncompromising champion of the COMELEC, and a dear friend to the rank and file,” said Jimenez in a tweet.

Borra was appointed a COMELEC commissioner in 2001. He became acting COMELEC chairman after Benjamin Abalos Sr. resigned as chairman in 2007.
