Duterte to name new PhilHealth chief on Monday

President Rodrigo Duterte will name the next President and CEO of the embattled Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Monday, according to his long-time aide Senator Bong Go.

GMA News’ Joseph Morong reported that Duterte will make the announcement in his weekly “Talk to the Nation” address. 

Go also said that the President will task the new PhilHealth chief to clean up the corruption mess hounding the state insurer.

Retired general Ricardo Morales earlier tendered his resignation

as PhilHealth President and CEO amid allegations of widespread corruption within the agency. 

Duterte previously said it would be best for Morales to resign due to his unstable health condition. 

Earlier this month, a whistleblower alleged that the PhilHealth executive committee pocketed some P15 billion in funds through several fraudulent activities. 

Meanwhile, Duterte is also expected to announce his latest directives on quarantine restrictions across the country on Monday. — BM, GMA News
