Missing anti-drug agent’s mom ‘unsatisfied’ with PDEA’s action on case

The mother of anti-drug operations agent Merton Fesway on Tuesday expressed disappointment on the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA) actions on the alleged abduction of her son.

During the Senate public order committee hearing, Teresita Tejano Fesway bursted in tears as she asked for help in seeking justice for her missing son.

“Sana ay ma-serve ang justice. Kailangan namin ng justice. Naghihintay sa pagdating ni Merton.  Yun lang ang gusto namin, justice…Dapat ma-lie detector ang mga nakakaalam diyan sa mga ano na yan, para magsabi sila ng totoo,” she said.

(We hope that justice will be served. We need justice. We are waiting for Merton. That’s what we want, justice. Those who are knowledgeable on the case should undergo a lie detector test so they will tell the truth.)

She then accused Merton’s boss of framing up her son, saying the PDEA officers, whom they met, were not courteous to them when they were seeking help on Merton’s case.

“Di totoo ‘yung lahat ng binibintang nila. ‘Yung boss nila diyan, hindi maganda ang pagtrato sa amin noong dumating kami diyan sa opisina nila. Kaya halata na may tinatago at set-up lahat ang ginawa nila,” she claimed.

(Their accusations are not true. Their boss did not treat us right when we asked for help in their office. It is obvious that they are hiding something and these are all a set-up.)

Teresita thanked the National Bureau of Investigation, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police for helping them in the investigation but she made exception to the PDEA.

“Salamat sa lahat na mga tumulong, CIDG , NBI, ‘yung CIDG lang ang naga-update sa amin, pero sa PDEA wala kaming update,” she said.

(Thank you to all who helped us. The CIDG and NBI. The CIDG was the only one that updates us but PDEA didn’t help us with the updates on the case.)

“Hindi pa kami kontento sa mga sagot nila. Noong pumunta kami sa opisina nila, wala silang pakialam kung ano, basta ‘Okay. Okay.’ Ganun lang ang sagot sila sa amin,” she added.

(We are not satisfied with their answers. When we went to their office, they are not paying attention to us. They just told us “Okay. Okay.” These are their answers to all our queries.)

“Salamat sa lahat ng tumulong sa akin, grabe, hindi kami satisfied sa presentation na ‘yan,” she said.

On June 25,2021, Merton was allegedly abducted by unknown men outside PDEA’s Office in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Fesway was supposed to meet a confidential informant prior to his disappearance, the initial investigation showed.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva has ordered the creation of “Task Force Fesway,” a 24-man intelligence and investigation team, to expedite the search for the missing anti-drug operative.

There were no response from the PDEA officials who were present in the hybrid Senate hearing.

Villanueva, who presented the timeline of Merton’s abduction case, had to leave the hearing early to attend to another appointment.

Senator Ronald dela Rosa, who heads the panel, sympathized with Merton’s family.

“I can just imagine kung may mangyari sa anak ko, hindi matanggap. I can feel your pain and I am one with you in condoning this criminal act. Hindi ako papayag na ganoon na lang ang mangyari na kahit na kung may ginawang kasalanan yung ating anak, then dapat…dadaan sa proseso sa hustisya,” he said, noting that he also has a child serving as a uniformed personnel in the government.

(I can just imagine if something happens to my child, I would not accept it. I can feel your pain and I am one with you in condoning this criminal act. I won’t allow this to happen again even if my child had something to do with the operations, this should undergo a proper judicial process.)

“Although kino-consider ‘yung theory mo, hindi pa rin tayo makapag-conclude na ganoon talaga, dahil we still lack some vital information, kailangan pa po namin mag-imbestiga further,” he added.

(Although we consider your theory, we cannot conclude that it was true because we lack some vital information and we need to further investigate.)
