The national government on Thursday awarded Laguna province for having the highest number of anti-COVID-19 doses administered during the nationwide three-day vaccination drive.

According to the National Task Force Against COVID-19, Laguna was able to administer a total of 271,989 doses from November 29 to December 1.

Cebu City, meanwhile, was hailed as the city with the highest number of jabs administered with 103,828.

Meanwhile, the top three municipalities are Rodriguez, Tanza, and Arayat with 39,383; 25,277; and 20,955 doses administered, respectively.

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) was meanwhile awarded as the region with the highest improvement in its average jab rate at 785.

During his speech at the Bayanihan, Bakunahan awarding event, vaccine czar Carlito Galvze Jr. said BARMM was able to increase its output by 10 times.

“Actually, kausap ko po ang executive secretary ng BARMM kahapon at kinongratulate ko po siya dahil first time po na nangyari na ang kanilang vaccination ay lumagpas ng 100,000 a day,” Galvez said.

(I talked with the executive secretary yesterday and I congratulated him because this is the first time that their vaccination went over 100,000 a day.)

“Kaya tuwang-tuwa po siya… pagpapatuloy po nila ang kanilang vaccination. Pero napakahirap, sadyang hirap kasi mga tinatawag nating mga geographically challenged ang mga areas nila,” he added.

(That’s why he was really happy… they said they will continue with the vaccination. But it is really difficult because their area is geographically challenged.)

Tawi-Tawi is the province with the highest improvement at 2,668 jabs and General Santos City was awarded most improved city with 673 jabs.

Each local or provincial government was awarded P25,000 worth of SM gift certificates.

Though it received no reward, Calabarzon was recognized as the region with the highest number of doses administered at 1,147,392. —KBK, GMA News
