Leody De Guzman undeterred by Pulse Asia poll result

Labor leader Leody De Guzman on Wednesday said he will continue pursuing the presidency in Eleksyon 2022 even after scoring less than 1% in the latest Pulse Asia survey results on presidential preference.

"Hindi tayo natitinag sa resulta ng survey. Tuloy lang sa pagtataas ng diskurso para pag-usapan ng masa ang plataporma ng mga solusyon sa kanilang pang araw-araw na mga problema," De Guzman said in a statement.

(We will not be fazed by the survey results. We will raise the level of discourse to show the masses our platforms to solve country's everyday issues.)

"Kapag nakita nila ang kaibhan ng kandidatong manggagawa, umaasa akong makukuha ko ang kanilang tiwala't suporta. Manalig sa masa," he added.

(If they see the difference in a labor candidate, I am hoping that I will get the support of the masses.)

De Guzman, who is running under Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), believes that these pre-election surveys are only mere predictions of the May 9, 2022 elections.

Moreover, De Guzman said these election surveys also called for electoral reforms that would "level the playing field" between rich and poor candidates.

"Ganunpaman, tuwi-tuwinang ipinapakita ng mga survey ang pangangailangan ng mga electoral reforms tungo sa isang 'level playing field' upang ang mga lider ng mga samahan ng taumbayan, ay magkakaroon ng 'fighting chance' sa mga kandidato ng mga elitista, na mapera, may-pangalan, at pinopondohan ng mga bilyonaryong negosyante," De Guzman said.

(Everytime we have these surveys, it raises the need to have electoral reforms that would level the playing field so that the leader of the masses will have a fighting chance against elitists, rich candidates, popular candidates and those receiving funds from billionaires.)

In a poll conducted from December 1 to 6, former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ranked first with a score of 53% while Vice President Leni Robredo scored 20%.

On the other hand, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao both ranked in third place with 8%. The two were followed by Senator Panfilo Lacson with 6%. — BM, GMA News
