Comelec's updated tentative list of aspirants shows 70 Senate bets

A total of 70 aspirants were allowed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to participate in the senatorial race for the 2022 national and local elections.

Based on the tentative Certified List of Candidates posted by the poll body on Friday, the Comelec has trimmed down the number of senatoriables from 174 to 70. The list includes (in alphabetical order):

The poll body has also released the updated tentative list of candidates at the local levels 

According to Comelec, the tentative list of aspirants/candidates for the May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections are based on the initial evaluation of the Certificates of Nomination, Certificates of Candidacy and Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance.

“Consequently, the contents of the list, particularly the names of the aspirants/candidates, political parties, as well as the name to appear on the ballot are subject to change as a result of any further evaluation and/or resolution of the Commission En Banc in relation thereto,” the poll body said. —KBK, GMA News
