Lacson says no deadline for his anti-drug campaign if he becomes president

Presidential aspirant and Senator Panfilo Lacson on Monday said his anti-drug campaign if ever he wins president will not have a deadline.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB's "Ikaw Na Ba? The Presidential Interviews," Lacson said he does not believe in deadlines.

“Hindi po ako naniniwala sa deadline, self-imposed man o kung sino ang nag-impose,” Lacson said when asked if he would also follow a timeframe similar to President Rodrigo Duterte’s self-imposed deadline of three to six months to end the problem of illegal drugs in the country.

(I don’t believe in deadlines, whether it is self-imposed or imposed by someone else.)

Lacson said he did not give himself a deadline when he introduced reforms as chief of the Philippine National Police.

“Nu’ng naging chief PNP ako, nasa isip ko na tanggalin ang kotong, ‘di ako nag-impose ng deadline pero within four months nawala ang kotong sa kalsada, within four months nareporma ko ang pulis,” he said.

(When I was the chief of the PNP, I really wanted to remove "kotong." I did not impose any deadline but within four months, there were no cases of "kotong" and within four months I was able to introduce reforms in the police force.)

“’Di naman kailangan mag-impose ng deadline. Gawin na lang natin, i-execute na lang natin nang maayos,” he added.

(We don’t need to impose any deadlines. We should just do what we need to do and execute it properly.)

During the Jessica Soho Presidential Interviews aired on Saturday, Lacson said the anti-illegal drug program of the next administration should be “holistic and comprehensive,” noting that Duterte’s approach only focused on law enforcement and not with prevention and rehabilitation. —KBK, GMA News
