Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Wednesday refused to disclose details on the surrender of the individual who allegedly made threats against presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., saying the DOJ is still evaluating the matter.

Guevarra told reporters that the severity of the supposed assassination plot against Marcos is still under evaluation.

"It's safer not to give details, including on whether he is at home, in the NBI  (National Bureau of Investigation), or elsewhere, until the evaluation process is completed. I have also directed the NBI to respect the rights of the subject," Guevarra said.

Earlier, NBI spokesman Ferdinand Lavin confirmed that the person who allegedly made a death threat against the former senator already surrendered to authorities.

The Marcos camp will check the extent or the level of seriousness of the alleged plot to assassinate the presidential bet, according to lawyer Vic Rodriguez, Marcos' spokesman.

Marcos' camp had said that the DOJ's Office of Cybercrime pushed through with the investigation after receiving a TikTok post that read, "WE ARE meeting everyday to plan for BBM’s assassination. Get ready." — RSJ, GMA News
