HINAPLONAN, Iligan City—President Rodrigo Duterte is right in urging the public to ask the Bureau of Internal Revenue why it has yet to collect a certain estate tax debt, presidential candidate and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno said Wednesday.

Though Duterte did not name from whom the estate tax should be collected, the issue of the estimated P203 billion said to be collectible from the Marcos family had been in news for a few weeks now.

“Well, tama si… Presidente doon dahil ‘yun naman ay due sa ating bansa. It only shows that ‘yung pagkakapantay-pantay, ipairal niya. Ito bagay lamang na makuha ng tao,” Moreno said in  an ambush interview when sought for comment.

He further said the involved family who is also a candidate should take the chance to show his supposed love for the country.

“I think ‘yung involved na pamilya na ‘yun na siya rin namang kandidato ay dito na niya maipakita ‘yung kanyang tunay na pagmamahal sa taong bayan,” Moreno said.

“So I agree with the President and I hope na makuha ito soon dahil sa hirap ng bilihin, maraming mawawalan ng trabaho, marami pa tayong gawain na kailangan ng imprastraktura,” he later added.

Aksyon Demokratiko, the party of Moreno, has requested the Supreme Court for a Certificate of Finality in relation to the High Court’s 1997 decision on the tax liability of the Marcos family.

For his part, presidential candidate and former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said there is "a lot of fake news involved" in the issues regarding his family's ill-gotten wealth.—AOL, GMA News
